11 years. That’s how long I’ve lived in this house. 11 years ago we subscribed to Sky TV, with the lovely receiver we were given a set of 4 Wharfedale Modus satellite speakers for Dolby Pro Logic (despite Sky having no surround sound support at the time). Years pass and I end up with them in my bedroom, I always praised them for their sleek size and very nice treble tones foolishly thinking I’d never replace them.
Until a few nights ago when my uncle came round, he’s a huge audiophile kinda guy. You know the sort, nothing can beat vinyl etc. So I trusted him when he said “I’ve got 2 very nice speakers, do you want them”. Instant yes! Day later I head over to his place to hear a demo with his proper equipment, Ultravox’s Vienna sounded absolutely incredible. On a quality level it melted my ears into the monotonous tones of John Foxx and co. Few hours later they were hooked into my sound system. They’re beside me right this minute, sat aside like Lord Vader and his twin, me being Luke dominating the aural world with prowess with a veneer that doesn’t quite match the surrounds, but blend in nonetheless.
I’m talking about a pair of Rega Alya’s. Not the best speakers in the world by far, but by far the best speakers I’ve experienced. Excellent for audio production, don’t notice them when gaming, incredible for my music (Prodigy, Tangerine Dream, Mull Historical Society and all the rest). They just offer so much more bass than my little satellites, obviously. My uncle may turn me into an audiophile yet! Once I can afford it! The world of QED, Cyrix and B&O will have to wait for the moment.
Tormishire is progressing extremely well. Had a binge of Coke Cola and Red Bull today, interspersed with Cadbury’s Roses and Celebrations and basically just steamed ahead with this game! Everything works as it should. Loading/saving, travelling between frames, upgrades, collectables, enemies and health, physics engine. All there now!
Oh, have a title graphic. For a number of you this will be the first released anything for this game!
Well the Jan 8th project has a name – Tormishire. And I can safely say this will be out soon! Isn’t a big game but one of my HDD’s crashing has slightly hindered development for tonight. Here is a lovely little MP3 from it. Oh, and it does not follow on the tradition of Sam. Tormishire is a gentle game that just so happens to be using the Sam 2 engine! I think the MP3 sums it up perfectly, do you reckon, game testers?
I will have a game out by January 8th 2007. Of course it won’t be huge. I need to make something presentable to demonstrate the new Sam 2 engine for university, so it *has* to be done.
Incidentally that’s my birthday!
This is incredible. Somebody at Apple actually thought of this as a demonstration of the iPod laser inscription.

Another piano piece, this one slipped out when I got home from university. Just sat down and improvised another piece. I should start planning these things out properly!
Decided to add some backing instruments too. Makes me want to go to sleep now. No, really.
Alright, a step back from my Cassette Boy pic in my little opinion, but a(nother) gunner girl appeared!

This time without a sketch outline and with an ounce of boredom setting in 20 minutes in.
Tom said make a sad song, so I improvised this. no edits, no re-recordings. Wham bam thank you mam done. Still loving this Midi cable. Don’t know if this is to be used in anything. Probably not, which is why it’s here! I mean there are mistakes left right and centre, but still!
I’m getting into this drawing malarky. Cassette Boy, even though I’ve never seen him.
