You’ll find it at the Co-op

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Just a little ‘un – I’ve put (this time) a fully working co-op into Tormishire. So you’ll be able to round up a mate and have a play. It works just like Tails in Sonic 2 and 3 as in player 2 can jump in at any moment, then if they leave the computer automatically takes over again. Player 1 uses 6 action keys, and a menu button. Player 2 just has 2 action buttons (run+jump).

So that’s that!

Juzzan’ update

So the servers were down. But we’re all back up now after 24 hours. Which isn’t too bad considering this is the first time in nearly 4 years this has happened!

Got interviewed at the Clickzine a couple of days ago. It might be my first interview. I forget these days! Mostly about Tormishire and that. Might be some new info in there.

Speaking of which! I’ve added the coolest little feature! I haven’t seen this in an Adventure game yet.

I graduated about a week ago too. That whole cap and gown ceremony. Stood out a bit too, I didn’t know you were meant to wear a long sleeved shirt underneath! Ah well. Really nerve racking experience until you actually got up on stage. My folks decided to get me a little graduation gift – iPod Radio Remote! I’ve been wanting one a while but have been waiting till my bank account cooled down a little from all my rabid spending.

I’ve also bought myself a very cheap Gameboy Color, Pokemon Yellow, Links Awakening DX, Metroid 2 and some other little games off eBay in preparation for my Nostalgic Summer. Dreamcast with a RGB Scart cable is all good to go too!

Last 7 days have got a 2 thumbs up rating.

So, I’m at Dovestones and just as it started to rain I spotted a dog in the corner of my eye. It was stuck down a runoff channel, a V shaped passage about 6′ tall. Water started to rise so I ran up and down the length of the channel looking for somewhere the dog could climb out of. Only, there isn’t. One end goes into a deep river and another drops down a cliff. A bit of a design flaw really. I can imagine a lot of sheep and dogs getting stuck down there.
I put my camera bag to the side and climbed down to get the dog out!
It must have been down there for a while! All it’s fur was soaking and the poor thing was shivering and crying. Just as I push it to the top, the damn thing runs off!

I ripped a piece of my camera bag off to make a leash of sorts and walk the 2 or so mile stretch down to the bus stop. Only you can’t take dogs on buses! Unless you beg the driver or whatever. So we walk home. Which really did take too long.

We’ve called her Lady! Taking her to the RSPCA tomorrow morning. I’m shattered now.

Jus some sketches

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I’ve used up all the sketch books in the house now. And since I’m a post-grad with a student loan to pay off I’m just going to have to do it all digitally. So I did! Just been sketching out some graphics n stuff for Tormishire.

I love this word. I spazzed out on the keyboard on my old computer last century whilst naming a temporary bitmap. Still remember the name! It’s not important!

Hey so I’m loving my iPod video. I’ve bumped my iTunes library up to 120gb, 17gb of music and 103gb of video! I find it better watching videos on my little iPod than on my 20″ widescreen monitor, or the 17″! I’ll find out why one day, but I’m probably alone. Ordered a smart remote control dock in some kind of attempt to build a hifi system that doesn’t involve my computer!

Also, because it was oh-so overdue, I’ve built a 1:1 map of Tormishire in Photoshop, taking up 130mb and 3gb of my precious RAM!. It’s exposed some pretty horrific joining and overlapping issues which I’m sorting out now. The red lines represent broken areas!

Tormishire is still going great. I’m adding loads of new places now. Throwing in item pick ups too. ‘sall well!

And I’ve been playing the homebrew Lemmings DS. As ever it’s absurdly addictive and simply better than the awful PS3/PSP remakes. So if you’ve got one of them Flashcard things for your DS you should probably download it!
