Some old Big Sky WIP pics!

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

I never get rid of my old pics. Here’s the oldest one in my pictures library-RAPPAC~1

Made in Photoshop in 1998/1999 or so (the first couple of years at secondary school). So there you have it. Proof!

SO HERE WE GO. Be prepared for sneak peaks at things that never made it into the final game, early concepts and unrefined silliness from the Really Big Sky and Big Sky libraries!

Also one random commenter who correctly points out the ONE picture in this post that doesn’t have a link to a larger version will get a Steam code for Really Big Sky!

Ends this Friday

Really Big Sky

Monday, January 24th, 2011

So 2 things-

  • There’s a bug in Big Sky
  • There won’t be a sequel

So with these 2 points in mind I’ll be releasing a fairly beefy update to Big Sky in the coming weeks. Currently titled Really Big Sky. There are lots of ideas and tweaks, but the first 2 to be announced…

  • 2-4 player co-op.
  • Alternate ships, each one with it’s own stat modifiers and bonus weapons. Yeah that’s another thing. Bonus weapons.

That bug hasn’t been squished yet.

The next 2

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Tower is on hold again, turns out that mainstream games are a good thing to make!

Mini Shooter will probably end up in Big Sky as an additional mode. I think we’re going to beef that game up through the course of its life. A new mode here, some new weapons there, a new boss upside your face, etc. I’ll probably throw out a test of the mode in the coming weeks – be sure to have 3D glasses ready.

I’m still seeking ideas for the next big game, but it has so far been inspired by adventure/travel films. I’m planning on watching the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy (perfect for this game!) to really get some ideas flowing.

I guess that’s it for now!

3D!

something for your eyes

I’ve really enjoyed the 3D anaglyph option in Minecraft so I thought I’d experiment with a bit of it myself. The above image was (quickly) mocked up in Photoshop and I’m currently toying with shaders to get a similar effect ingame. If, IF it works I’ll be adding it to our upcoming game – Mini Shooter – and patching it into Big Sky! Can’t you bloody imagine it? It’d be well intense!

Ok bye!

Mint Crimbo!

It’s Christmas all of a sudden. I love this time of the year, I’ve got a big and cool family so gifts and good times a-plenty!

I did some quick calculations and I have approx 8 days worth of TV right there. 192 days worth of games. 2 bypasses worth of chocolate.

My girlfriend’s snowman is a bit horrific>

The first proper review of Big Sky is up, and it’s a good un! http://www.midlifegamer.net/2010/12/big-sky-review/
I should make mainstream games more often it seems.

A bugs

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

I’ve submitted a Big Sky update to the distributors so I’m not sure exactly when it’ll become active. So to all you cool indie-supporting doods, grab the update from wherever you bought it from.

It fixes a bug when you first play the game, the name enter screen resets your save file. Not to worry though, the settings are “permanently” saved if you edit them beyond that point.

The 2nd bug is a bit more serious. Basically; DON’T use the options application! It uses an old save encryption that will erase your save data entirely!

These popped up at the last minute so weren’t present in the betas.

Big Sky is out, now! UPDATE

Friday, December 10th, 2010

For those who buy the “pro” version of the game I’ve set the forecast settings to a nice booster. Enjoy!

Update> it’s no longer out. Pirates mean we can’t have nice things so BB games will only be available from distributors from here on. Big Sky should be available next week.

Trailer finished

Sunday, December 5th, 2010

Barring the few, minor bugs I found whilst recording the trailer the game is now finished. It will be launching at some point during the week, along with a new (and a thousand times better) pricing structure for our games. So I had a busy day recording and editing a trailer and taking the photos below. Well sortof, me and a buddy go out in the depths of night to snap photos whilst nobody else is watching.
