Subject: Confidential "Game" Proposal
Hello James, my name is Paul Fletcher, President of the National Card Hockey League located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Would appreciate a dialogue with regard to the following: I have developed a HockeyCard Game and we're looking for Partnership to launch the Game of Card Hockey in North American, Chinese, European markets as well as Internet markets worldwide. People of all ages, male and female can play and the Game is designed for play by Two people (2 players) or Partners (4 players).
Briefly, Card Hockey can be marketed in three basic forms:
1. The Game can be packaged simply as a deck of playing cards with Rules and you play like any other card game.
2. It can be formatted to CD/DVD.
3. Similar to the tremendous popularity of the Poker.com ventures, Card Hockey can also be played on theInternet. Whereby, people can play live with others On-line or compete in CardHockey.comTournaments. This way, Sponsors and Advertising would reach millions of Gamers and hockey Fans worldwide via the Internet. So there is no doubt that our Computer version of Card Hockey will likely surpass even the popularity of card games like Internet Hearts, Bridge, Cribbage and Poker.
The success of Card Hockey is virtually assured because the marketing trends already exist. Worldwide, everybody plays Cards and the Sport of Hockey is also known worldwide. Combine these two factors with the endorsement of a Pro Sports entity like the National Hockey League and you have a venture that is virtually guaranteed successful. I have also outlined the following marketing analysis for your consideration:
Marketing themes:
All we're doing is taking advantage of the "trends" which already exist in the world. Which is that there are millions of Card Players, millions of Hockey Fans, millions of video Gamers, millions follow Professional Sports and millions use the Internet. It doesn't get any simpler than this and that's the genius of it. I didn't plan it this way. It is just a matter of fact.
You see. It is not so much about the game itself. It is about the "Event". There are Card Players, Video Gamers, Hockey Fans, the Internet and Professional Sports endorsements. But the game of Card Hockey_"links"_all these trends together. This may very well be the next best marketing gimmick to come along since the game of Trivial Pursuit. If you can see it.
I'm not trying to convince you about how wonderful the game of Card Hockey is. I know there are hundreds of Card games for people to play. Except, I have the only "Hockey" card game/video game in the world and the wonderful thing about Card Hockey is its simplicity. It's simple and cheap to produce, simple to play, simple to market and it simply addresses the common criteria for all marketed Game products. Very few do.
Keep in mind. Only a small percentage of the world's population have the ability to play the fancy virtualvideo games. They are also very expensive to buy and each game is plagued with "support" issues and related problems. This is why the vast majority of gamers stick to just playing Card games. They don't have the time to learn complex virtual interactive games with joy sticks, various buttons and accessories. But most people do play video Card games at work and at home. In fact, most people will play video Card games out of sheer boredom. Rather than go through the rigmarole of spending hours and hours learning the controls and nuances of these highly sophisticated virtual games. Most of which are just pure violence.
So of course people would welcome a brand new Card game like Hockey and I'm sure you know. Anyproduct will sell that is endorsed by Pro Sports organizations like the NFL, NHL and NBA. I just happen to have the game of Hockey which is naturally a perfect fit for the National Hockey League. That's called: Luck or Good Fortune or the Right Timing. Call it what you will but what it spells is: OPPORTUNITY and he who hesitates is lost. You see it or you don't see it. Makes no difference to me. :)
Anyway, we want to market the game as "NHL Card Hockey" and this will be the key to the Game's success in North America. So please understand. Card Hockey is not intended to compete with the "virtual" games. Indeed, I would be happy to introduce Card Hockey as just another Freeware game on the Internet but why do that when you can see the potential is there for mega profits? The appeal of this Game is a simple matter of "supply & demand". Obviously there is a demand for a universal concept like Card Hockey but until now there is no supply. However, Card Hockey meets this demand. Period.
This Game appeals to all age groups, male & female. It appeals to the majority of card players, themajority of video card-gamers, the majority of hockey fans and the majority of pro sports fans. It has all the ingredients for a hugely successful New Game Venture but I am not going to convince you of this in an email message.
But you may come and see it with your own eyes or send a representative and time is of the essence. Because I am currently contacting every possible Investment lead I can source. This includes video game developers, foreign investment, gaming concerns, N. American, Asian and European Sports entities and Corporate sponsors and I will accept the first suitable offer for Partnership. Two Owners of the NHLCalgary Flames have seen my "conventional" prototype of the Game and they liked it. This version uses the "playing cards" format. But I couldn't risk sending it to anyone for fear of it being stolen. So I eventually realized to change focus and do an Electronic version to show investors. Because it can be duplicated on disc and sent via email or sent directly via the Internet. Albeit, there is risk involved doing that too but at least my Programmer can put disclaimers on the electronic demo and hopefully it will serve as a sufficient hijacking deterrent.
I would like to complete the Electronic version of the Game for presentation to the NHL or other Investors. However, the Programmer who is helping me, this is his first Game project and he donates only his spare time to do this. As such, it may be years before he is finished. I would rather not wait any longer. I'm almost 55 and don't expect to see age 65. So it would be nice to enjoy some fruits of my effort, sooner than later. So now I'm offering to Partner with "expert" game Designer/Developers like yourselves just to get the game finished as soon as possible.
My work is done and the time is ripe. I am introducing Card Hockey to the world whether it makes a dime or not. So, for entrepreneurs who can share my vision, the opportunity is now. Because the secrets of Card Hockey will either be buried with me or offered freely for the world to enjoy. Therefore the window to profit from the Game may be short.
Some additional marketing notes: For the N. American market, the Investor must acquire NHLendorsement and finance the production of the Game in all its forms. In which case, the Investor would also share Card Hockey Rights for all the world's markets. As well, while the North American market would surely embrace NHL Card Hockey, along with other versions to promote Pro and Amateur Hockey Leagues, an Olympic Hockey version should be very popular, versions for the European/Russian/Scandinavian Hockey Leagues and even a Children's version. The concepts in Card Hockey are also adaptable to Basketball and Soccer. Finally, the Investor that partners with me will own the lion's share of revenue. No arguments.
Provided you donate the resources to complete the video version and become the Investor. This is just a Card game so the graphics/sound etc. for this will not be much of a challenge for your team of experts I'm presuming. If you want to work with Brian my Programmer, I'm sure he would be honoured and very appreciative to work with your experts. However, if you prefer to work alone and want total technical ownership of Card Hockey, then that's agreeable with me. We can start from scratch and work only through me. Brian has no proprietory rights to my Game. All decisions are mine alone and I will simply compensate Brian later with proceeds from the Game. But I would love for Brian to have an opportunity to learn from professionals like "you" if possible. You might even like his work and take him on for future projects.
Also, your Company will recoup all of your expenses before I see a dime of profits. If you do not wish to be the principle Investor but still wish to lend your technical expertise, I am willing to discuss this scenario too. So please be open and honest and feel free to demand what you want. You'll find me to be more than reasonable. This is not about the money. It's about a dream. Some of us can afford them. Most can't. C'est la vie. :)
From over 20 years of development, Card Hockey is also designed to be played by Groups/Organizations, in a “League format”. As such, I founded the National Card Hockey League (NCHL) and hope to develop Card Hockey Leagues worldwide in conjunction with NHL and other Hockey Leagues.
So there you have it. Something new, exciting and never offered before, anywhere in the world. ThisGame has been a labour of love for over twenty years and I am very pleased to finally be able to offer Card Hockey to the Public. There is no question that Card Hockey would be a valuable addition to anyone's corporate portfolio. You're welcomed to contact me at the earliest convenience if you wish further discussion. Otherwise, at your discretion, please forward this email to an Entrepreneur you feel might be interested. Blessings.
